Year in Review: How did we do in 2020?

Although 2020 certainly changed the world in unexpected ways, we weren’t as affected individually as many others were. We were still able to travel, with some changes in our plans, we could still buy most of what we needed when we needed it, and we made a few changes to our travels that would have happened regardless. Here’s a summary of our travels from the past year.

In the last 12 months we traveled over 30,000 miles!

We drove from North Dakota to Oregon, from Oregon to Minnesota, Minnesota to Nevada, Nevada to Texas, and all the states in between.

We visited Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park!

We spent 192 nights camping for free on National Forest Service Lands and Bureau of Land Management properties, and one night staying for free in a city parking lot with water and electric hookups.

We found free camping in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

We paid for 48 nights of camping in developed campgrounds.

These included 1 State Park, 1 City Park, 2 developed recreation areas, 2 Corp of Engineers campgrounds, and 2 private campgrounds.

We also enjoyed 122 nights with friends and family.

We love spending time with family and friends!

In total we visited 14 states, including our first visit to Texas!

These included Arizona, Colorado, North and South Dakota, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Wyoming.

We also made some renovations to our RV, celebrated our one year anniversary of beginning this RV journey, made new friends, sold one truck and bought another, and spent a few nights in a hotel while our trailer had some emergency repairs.

When we started this journey we had no idea where we would end up. We only knew that God was calling us to travel and to minister to those we met along the way. We have no idea what the future has in store for us or for how long we will live and travel full time in our 5th wheel, but we have no intention of quitting anytime soon.

Our kids, and us parents as well, continue to learn about the various landscapes, climates, and people of the western United States. We look forward to exploring and discovering more in the months and years ahead.
