Our one and only stop in Tennessee was at Parksville Lake Recreation Area, a beautiful National Forest campground located just across the highway from Lake Ocoee and all it has to offer.
As we continued our way south to Florida we made a quick, three-night stop at Parksville Lake Campground. The campground is small compared to many we’ve stayed at, but it was very quiet and absolutely beautiful. We had site 16, and it turned out to be the best site we could have been in.
I take a lot of care picking out our campsites. I need access to a decent Verizon or AT&T signal in order to work or we can’t continue traveling. I failed miserably on that front when I booked this campground. It turned out that there was no cell phone signal here at all! Thankfully there was a library fairly close by (within a half hour), so I made use of their space and free wifi for the two weekdays we were in the area.
How to get there
Parksville Lake Campground is located ?? miles southeast of Ocoee, TN just off of US Highway 64.
Amenities
This campground has 16 sites with no hookups. However, a bathhouse, fresh water, and dump station are all available within the campground. The nearby town of Ocoee has a small grocery store should you need food, and the folks at the local library are very friendly and helpful.
What to do
This area is very popular with whitewater rafters. There are also plenty of opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, and hiking.
Even though our stay here was short, and we had no internet access, we enjoyed it very much. It was quiet and peaceful, and fairly inexpensive and just what we needed.
