We stopped here on our way to Oregon after spending a couple weeks at Red Rock Pass in eastern Idaho. We don’t usually pay for dry camping, but options were limited as we headed west through Idaho. However, this campground did not disappoint!
We left Red Rock Pass mid-week to make our remaining travel days a bit shorter. Our best option for camping was at Milner Historic Recreation Area so we headed that way shortly after lunch.
There is a fee of $5/night ($2.50 with an Interagency Pass) for camping. We headed to the camping areas, picked a site, and our oldest and I biked back to the entrance to pay for our camping.
How to get there
Heading west on I-84, exit into the town of Burley and head south to US Highway 30. Turn right onto N 500 W, then turn left onto W Milner Rd. Follow this road to the entrance of Milner Historic Recreation Area on the right.
Heading east on I-84, exit at State Highway 25, turn right on Ridgeway Rd and then left on E 1010 S. Turn right on S 2400 E and follow that until it ends at E 3610 N. Turn left then right then left onto W Milner Rd. Follow this road until you reach Milner Historic Recreation Area on the left.
Amenities
This is a dry camping area, but there are pit toilets in the camping and fishing areas. The gravel sites are fairly level (we didn’t need to do any adjusting) and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. A couple trash cans were also in the camping loop we were in.
Our Verizon signal was at full bars here so we were able to get some work done and stream on all of our devices.
What to do
There is plenty to explore here if you like to bike or hike. Fishing and waterfowl hunting are popular here as well.
This was a great, clean, peaceful area to camp. There were only a couple other campers here during our stay and everyone was respectful of distance and made little noise. We’ll definitely stay here again should we happen to need camping on our way through.

How would this campground be with a class a motorhome pulling a jeep ?
If I remember correctly, there were a handful of sites that could accommodate larger RVs. We are about 50 feet in length between the truck and trailer and had no issues navigating this campground.
