On our second visit to the Grand Canyon we took advantage of the nice weather to enjoy more of the beautiful views and hikes the area is known for.
On our way back north from our second winter of traveling we decided to stop for a couple weeks at Grand Canyon National Park. This was our second time visiting the park so we knew where we wanted to camp. We headed up to Forest Road 305 and set up camp.
The next Sunday we headed into Grand Canyon National Park to spend the day exploring the Rim Trail, stopping at Mather Point, the Yavapai Geology Museum, and Verkamp’s Visitor Center. The views along the south rim are spectacular and are worth the visit to this busy national park.
A few times during our stay in the area we headed into the park to use the RV dump station. One of those times we had the pleasure of seeing some of the park’s wildlife up close and personal (admittedly closer than we like to be).
On the first day of National Park Week 2021, April 17 (a fee free day!) our two older kids and I headed into the park to hike a portion of the Bright Angel Trail. It was a great day for a hike and we made it as far as the 1-1/2 mile resthouse. The 3.7 mile hike there and back took us 2.5 hours (that includes a half hour break for a rest and snack) and we loved every minute of it! We also took the opportunity to take the bus out to Hermit’s Rest and back. It was a welcome break after our hike.
That evening we all headed into the park again to catch the sunset views at Hopi Point. It was a beautiful end to our final day exploring Grand Canyon.
