Yukon Trails RV & Camping Resort; Lyndon Station, WI

This campground was our first stay in the Thousand Trails system of campground and RV Resorts. What did we think of it? Read on to find out!

We left Minnesota after a short weekend hanging out with family to formally begin our travels south for the winter. Our first stop was Yukon Trails, an RV resort in The Trails Collection Campground system of Thousand Trails. For those who haven’t heard of Thousand Trails, it’s a camping membership program that allows for “free” nightly stays in hundreds of campgrounds across the country. You pay the yearly membership fee, and the more nights you stay at Thousand Trails campground the cheaper your campground stays get. For more information you can check out their website at https://thousandtrails.com/.

The campground itself was fairly easy to find. We pulled in after business hours, so there was a packet with our reservation information and campground rules waiting for us at the clubhouse. This particular campground assigns sites at check-in (not all do) so we found our site on the map and proceeded down the road to find it.

First off, we love trees. The two winters we spent in the desert solidified our love of trees of all kinds. However, trees are not friends when you have to navigate a 33′ trailer with an F350 around them. The site we were assigned looked spacious enough, but the roads in this campground are narrow with trees lining both sides. However, we managed to get backed in after a couple tries and settled right in for our three night stay.

How to get there

Yukon Trails Campground is located just off I-90 across from Lyndon Station, WI.

Amenities

The 214 sites here are a mixture of tent and water/electric with 30 or 50 amp services. There is a dump station in the campground, right next to the bathhouse. The bathhouse itself definitely needed some updating. The women’s toilet stalls did not lock and there were few places to hang clothing in the shower stalls. The showers had enough hot water and pressure, though.

What to do

The campground also offers cabins to rent, a clubhouse, swimming pool with children’s wading pool, bike trails, mini golf, a playground, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, a digging pit (for a fee) for the kids, and a lot more. We weren’t staying long enough to enjoy any of it but we appreciated the many activities that were available.

Overall our stay was pleasant enough. The RV neighbors we had were kind enough to move vehicles and help us pull out of our site the morning we left and we were very thankful for their assistance. Did I mention that we damaged out tailgate while hooking up to the RV? No? Well, we/’ll just forget all about that (If you want to see a picture of it, go find us on Instagram!).
