2019 Year in Review

We made so many changes in 2019! We’ve been living in our RV for 7 months now, and I can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for us! Are you curious about what we did and where we went this year? Wonder no more! Here is a summary of our travels.

We started our RV travels on May 31st, 2019. In that time we:

Traveled over 20,000 miles!

We drove from North Dakota to the Washington coast, from the Washington coast to Minnesota, and from Minnesota to Nevada.

Visited 4 national parks and 1 national monument.

We stopped at Mount Rainier National Park, Olympic National Park, Crater Lake National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, and Devils Tower National Monument. We also drove through Yellowstone National Park.

Camping in Targhee National Forest, Idaho, Southwest of West Yellowstone, Montana
Spent 45 nights camping for free on national forest land and Bureau of Land Management properties.

We found free camping in Montana, Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada.

Camping outside Mount Rainier National Park
Paid for 23 nights of camping in developed campgrounds.

These included 6 State Parks and 2 National Parks, 3 City and County Parks, and 1 private campground.

Camping with Family & Friends
Enjoyed 146 nights with friends and family.

We love spending time with family and friends!

Visited 14 states!

Including Arizona, Colorado, North and South Dakota, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota and Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico and Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming.

We also spent countless dollars on fuel, food, laundry, RV and truck repairs. In the past 7 months we bought new tires for the RV, new batteries for both the RV and the truck, replaced the RV’s water pump, and added solar panels. We started out knowing nothing and ended the year having a pretty good idea of how to fix our way through any issue that may arise.

Our children have learned so much about the varied landscape of the western United States and we are all looking forward to exploring more in the months and years to come.

When we started this journey we had no idea where we would end up. We only knew that God was calling us to travel and to minister to those we met along the way. We have no idea what the future has in store for us or for how long we will live and travel full time in our 5th wheel, but we have no intention of quitting anytime soon.

What do you think of our travels so far? Do you have any suggestions on where we should go next? Let us know in the comments! Or you can email me anytime at alicia@simplejoyfuljourney.com. I’d love to hear from you!

Happy New Year!
